Summary Govt has reduced petroleum prices, now Imran Khan should bring down inflation in KP, Info Minister
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that had there been no sit-ins, we would have brought down the petrol prices by Rs. 14 per liter. Responding to Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s claims that government was forced to reduce the petroleum prices because of the pressure created by his sit-in in Islamabad, PErvaiz Rashid said that the government would have reduced the prices even further if rupee had not lost its value against dollar.
Talking to media today (Saturday) in Islamabad, Pervaiz Rashid said that government’s doors are open for talks with the PTI. “Imran Khan should unlock his party leaders’ handcuffs so that they can come to hold talks”, he said.
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) senator said that transport fares were immediately brought down in Punjab after reduction in petroleum prices, will Imran Khan bring the prices down in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP), asked Rashid. He said that Imran Khan calls others as kings but acts like a king himself. “He decided about the resignations like a dictator”, alleged Pervaiz Rashid. He said that Imran Khan hasn’t allowed his team to hold talks as yet. “He should give free hand to Shah Mehmood, Arif Alvi and Shafqat Mehmood for talks”, advised PML-N stalwart. He said that government’s hearts and doors are open for talks.
Pervaiz Rashid clarified that OGDCL is not being privatized. He said that only 10 percent of OgDCL shares are being sold while government will keep 68 percent of the shares. He said that none of the employees’ job is in danger.
Information Minister said that government enjoys clear majority in the parliament and does not need to do horse-trading. He said that the rumours about horse-trading are baseless.
