LAHORE (Dunya News) – The demonstrations to protest against the death sentence award of Bangladesh’s Jamaat Islami leader Matiur Rehman took place in several cities across Pakistan including Lahore, Dunya News reported.

The Jamaat Islami Pakistan leaders led a demonstration in front of Baitul Mukarram mosque in Karachi. Addressing the demonstrators, the speakers said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should summon an all parties’ conference (APC) to discuss various options to protest on diplomatic channels.

Jamaat Islami workers in Peshawar blocked the Ashraf Road during the protest. The demonstrators chanted slogans against Bangladeshi Prime Minister Hasina Wajid.

The demonstrators demanded the government to summon Bangladesh’s ambassador to officially lodge the protest.

A rally in favour of Bangladeshi Jamaat Islami began at Bismillah Chowk and ended at Daulat Gate in Multan.

The demonstrators demanded Bangladesh to withdraw the death sentence award.

Jamaat Islami leaders led another rally from Chiniot Bazar to Chowk Ghanta Ghar in Faisalabad.

The leaders said while addressing the rally participants that Matiur Rehman is being punished for his ‘love’ for Pakistan.
