KARACHI (Dunya News) - Three days polio campaign which was due to start on Monday in the areas Rasheedabad, Yousaf Ghoth, Mawacha Ghoth of Baldia town has been suspended due to lack of security.
Polio teams gathered early morning to move to their respective places for polio vaccination but workers couldn’t leave due to insufficient security.
According to the sources, polio campaign has been started in other areas of Karachi including Korangi and Landhi on Monday.
At least 64 people, including health workers and security personnel, have been killed in militant attacks on polio vaccination teams since December 2012.
Expressing serious concerns over increasing polio cases, government decided to remove hurdles faced by polio teams in Karachi, FATA and parts of Balochistan but still there are no proper arrangements of security for polio workers
