The Supreme Court has set a deadline of October 28 for the appointment on the important position of CEC.
Shah expressed his views saying that the requirement of a retired Supreme Court judge as the new CEC should be dropped. According to Shah, a senior politician or a bureaucrat could also be appointed as CEC.
He further argued that the appointment should be delayed until electoral reforms are carried out. Talking to Nawaz Sharif, Shah said that he would consult his lawyer to submit a response in the Supreme Court before October 28, which would include the reasons to delay the appointment of CEC.
