Summary CM Punjab sent the report to PM Nawaz Sharif; PTI rejects the report terming it contrary to facts
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has sent the report on Qasim Bagh incident to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The report compiled by the three-member committee, headed by Secretary Environment Punjab, held the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) management for the incident. PTI, on the other hand, has rejected the report terming it contrary to the facts.
Three-member committee was headed by Secretary Environment Iqbal Chauhan. The other two members of the committee were DIG Aamir and Special Secretary Interior Dr. Shoaib Akbar. According to the report, district management and police informed the PTI about their reservations but Vice Chairman PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi ignored their warnings.
Police has also sent its initial report to IG Punjab. According to this report, there were more than 2000 police officials present outside the stadium. Report claims that five of the doors were open when stampede broke out. PTI was responsible for managing the event inside the stadium, according to this report. City Police Officer (CPO) Multan Sultan Gujjar has confirmed that the report has been sent to IG Punjab.
Only the designated team will conduct the inquiry and case will be registered in light of its findings.
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri has said that it was not the first incident of mismanagement in PTI gatherings. “PTI is doing politics on deaths of its workers”, said Punjab government spokesman.
Nishter Hospital management has told Dunya News that the relatives of the deceased did not allow postmortem of the dead bodies.
