Indian PM greets Pakistan on Independence Day

Summary Pakistan is celebrating its 68th Independence Day today.

NEW DELHI (Web Desk) - In a Twitter message on Thursday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Pakistan on its 68th Independence Day.

 

On the other hand, the Pakistan High Commission observed the Independence Day in New Delhi.

Pakistan s High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, addressed the gathering after hoisting his country s flag in the high commission premises.

In his address, High Commissioner Basit said, "Pakistan is committed to having normal relations with India on the basis of mutual respect. And, we are confident that in the times ahead, both Pakistan and India would be able to resolve their problems and issues and have peaceful relations.

"I would also like to extend moral and diplomatic support to people of J and K in their legitimate struggle, which is enshrined in UN charter and universal declaration of human rights", he added.
