Summary Dunya News revealed that PTI expressed disapproval over Ishaq Dar’s name as chairman committee.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Dunya News revealed the inside story of the parliamentary session held in regard to the electoral reforms. Government’s claim over unanimously electing Ishaq Dar as chairman electoral reform committee proved farce.

Sources told Dunya News, that all opposition parties have not yet agreed upon Ishaq Dar’s name as chairman of the committee. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has negated the name of Ishaq Dar as chairman electoral reform committee. PTI has further advised that the chairman of the committee should be elected from the opposition parties.

Member PTI, Shireen Mazari has suggested the name of Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Raza Rabbani for the position whereas his own party members opposed the suggestion.

Naveed Qamar of PPP has favored Ishaq Dar for the chairmanship instead of his own party member.

After PTI’s disapproval over nominating Ishaq Dar, government’s claims of reaching a consensus regarding the appointment of chairman electoral reform committee proved wrong.

Earlier on August 6, Federal Finance Minister and prominent leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Ishaq Dar was claimed to be unanimously elected as the chairman of electoral reform committee.

Dar vowed that every step will be taken with mutual agreement with the committee members.

In the session of the parliamentary committee over electoral reforms, the nominated members of PML-N, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulama Islam (JUI) participated. The committee elected Dar as the chairman through vote.

Talking to the media after committee’s session, Dar had said that the government will move forward with mutual cooperation on national matters. He said most of the work has already been done and that the modern technology will now be assessed.
