LAHORE: (Dunya News) Veteran leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif has denied charges of having any shares in the power generating company. He said that he had sold the shares two years back and had also reported the sale of shares before Election Commission and Federal Board of revenue.
Khawaja Asif’s shares in Pak Gen have been the talk of the town for the last couple days since it was reported in the media that Khawaja Asif holds shares worth Rs. 50 million and the company was paid its share of about Rs. 7 billion when the circular debt was cleared.
Federal Minister of Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif tweeted through his twitter account @KhawajaMAsif today (Sunday) that he had sold the shares two years ago and had also reported it to the Election Commission of Pakistan and in his tax returns.
Khawaja Asif further said that he had to face a huge loss while selling the shares. “I held the shares of pak gen but sold them more than 2 yr back at a huge loss...reported in nomination papers... tax returns & EC returns...”
“I have already answered this question on TV Talk Shows”, said the PML-N leader from Sialkot in a twitter status.
Federal Minister for Defense and Water & Power also tweeted: "It is a rerun of an old story like the rerun of my 2006 budget speech. Just caught in the cross fire of ratings war.”
