LAHORE (Dunya News) – Mobile phone services likely to remain suspended in several cities including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad and Sukkur on the occasion of Youm-e-Ali (RA) as security measures were beefed up. The pillion riding will be banned in Peshawar tomorrow (Saturday) and in Hyderabad on July 20, Dunya News reported.
According to details, Sindh government forwarded the recommendation to the federation seeking suspension of cellular services in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur among other cities. Sources say that Sindh government’s recommendation is likely to be approved.

Punjab government has also forwarded the recommendation to the Interior Ministry seeking cellular suspension in Rawalpindi on Youm-e-Ali (RA).
On the occasion of Youm-e-Ali (RA) in Karachi, security plan has been reorganized and traffic on M.A. Jinnah road has been restricted due to the security arrangements by the police.
Sindh police has already devised a security plan for the central procession of Youm-e-Ali (ra). 14, 000 security personnel have been deployed in all three zones. Another 2,000 security personnel from other police units including the traffic division will continue to perform their prescribed duties within their specified areas. Mobile units aided with top notch cameras will be deployed within the three zones, which will be used for monitoring purposes within specified zones.
Additional Inspector General (IG) Karachi said in a statement that police commandos and rangers have also been deployed in surrounding areas of Nishtar Park, Tibet centre and Bolton market.
Police will be aided by eight bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs for the process of searching the public procession and other surrounding areas after regular intervals. CCTV cameras will be continuously monitoring the procession while it passes through different areas throughout the region. The shops located within the route of the procession will be sealed by the police.
The route starting from M.A Jinnah road and Nishtar road till Shah-e-Khuraasaan will be blocked due to the central procession. The Traffic police will be deployed at adjoining roads so that a smooth traffic flow can be maintained for the public, as reported by Dunya news.
