Tribunal probing Model Town tragedy summons all SPs on July 21

Summary Eye witnesses and injured cops testified that they were injured amid PAT workers' attacks

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The tribunal investigating the Model Town tragedy that left over a dozen Minhajul Quran workers dead and over a hundred injured last month, summoned all Superintendents Police (SPs) on July 21, Dunya News reported.
The member of Joint Investigation Team, Saif Murtaza said while presenting the report that the investigation is being carried out on daily basis, adding that the positive results will soon be yielded.
The request to obtain mobile phone data of several persons including Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif was submitted to the mobile phone companies. Reportedly, former Law Minister Punjab, Rana Sanaullah has another mobile phone number whose regard is also being obtained.
However, the cellular companies said that they cannot trace mobile phone numbers using names only which was the main reason behind all the delay. The tribunal, during hearing, ordered Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) director to present their report concerning the tragedy on July 23.
Meanwhile, two eye witnesses, two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), four Station House Officers (SHOs) and eighteen cops injured during the tragedy testified before the tribunal that they were injured by the fires and stones allegedly thrown by the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers.
The tribunal adjourned further hearing until July 21. Former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Rana Jabbar and SP CIA along with all SPs participating in the operations are summoned for the next hearing.
