ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Ministry of Finance has released Rs 4.28 billion for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan so far.
According to a report presented to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday, authorities have registered 759,835 internally displaced persons from North Waziristan so far, while Ministry of Finance has released Rs 4.28 billion for IDPs.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has started distribution of cash assistance among the IDPs through mobile SIMs.
Each displaced family is being provided 8,000 rupees under the provincial Ramazan package. Under this package, 5,000 rupees are being provided for food and 3,000 rupees for house rent.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced special allowance of Rs 20,000 for each family of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) during holy month of Ramazan.
Addressing the IDPs in Bannu, the Prime Minister had also announced increasing assistance package for each family up to Rs 20,000 from current Rs 12,000. He has assured to extend all possible assistance for the internally displaced persons of North Waziristatn.
PM Nawaz said the government is aware of the difficulties being faced by the displaced families and military-civil officials are working together to provide relief to them.
He said safe and peaceful return of the IDPs to their homes will also be ensured after the establishment of peace in North Waziristan.
On the other hand, the registration of North Waziristan’s Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) began in Peshawar on Monday. IDPs belonging to Miranshah will be registered in the first phase, Dunya News reported.
According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the registration of North Waziristan IDPs is taking place at Government College of Commerce Hayatabad.
The affectees from Miranshah Tehsil will be registered in the first stage. The registration of affectees from other Tehsils of North Waziristan will also continue from July 7 until July 14.
