Summary Prime Minister did not file complaint against Musharraf, Shahid Khan said.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – During hearing of treason case, Interior Secretary Shahid Khan on Tuesday said the Prime Minister did not lodge complaint against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf but only ordered investigation.
A three-member special bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab heard treason case against Musharraf.
During case proceedings, Musharraf’s lawyer Farogh Nasim cross-examined Interior Secretary Farogh Nasim.
Farogh Nasim questioned that is there any law that authorizes the premier to order Interior Secretary to file a complaint.
The Interior Secretary replied that he is not aware of such SRO or law, however, the prime minister as a chief executive can order probe into any case.
The PM has directed investigation into different cases including Karachi incident, he added.
Interior Secretary Shahid Khan explained that probe against Musharraf also started on Prime Minister’s order, however, he did not file the complaint.
He admitted that lodgig of complaint regarding violation of article 6 took seven years. Federal government on December 12, 2013 took decision to file complaint on the report of joint investigation team. No additional documentation was done after filing of the complaint.
Meanwhile, Prosecutor Akram Sheikh objected to Farogh Nasim’s question but Justice Faisal Arab rejected the objection.
On this, Akram Sheikh left the courtroom.
The case hearing has been adjourned till Wednesday.
