Summary The LHC has admitted a petition for hearing against distribution of official Hajj quota.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday admitted a petition for hearing against the official Hajj quota. Justice Khalid Mehmood of the LHC heard the petition.

Advocate Azhar Sidique, counsel of the petitioner, took the stance that the distribution of Hajj quota by Ministry of Religious was unjustified.

He said Saudi government granted Hajj quota for 143, 368 persons for Pakistan this year out of which 50% was for the government and other 50% was for private tour operators.

The petitioner said that the ministry of Religious Affairs accepted 53, 814 applications instead of 71684.

The petitioner took the stance that the ministry deprived the citizens of low-cost Hajj package. The petitioner’s lawyer said that the ministry has tried to mislead the court.

The court issued notices to the federal government, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Attorney General and sought reply on May 29.
