ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Government prepared and announced on Wednesday the strategy to stop anti-loadshedding demonstrations. 4 thousand megawatt additional electricity will be added in the system before May 11, Dunya News reported.
According to sources, government has decided to take immediate steps to reduce loadshedding in a bid to lighten the intensity of upcoming anti-government movement.
Reportedly, government’s move is to prevent the opposition from taking advantage of the anti-loadshedding protestors.
Sources say that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had assigned the task to end electricity shortfall before May 11 to Khawaja Asif, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Pervez Rasheed and Abid Sher Ali.
Government has decided to add 4000 megawatt electricity in the system; 3 thousand megawatt of which will be derived from thermal system while the remaining 1 thousand megawatt from hydro power plants.
Accordingly, the government has approved the supply of 5 thousand ton additional furnace oil to thermal power plants and additional 2500 ton oil supply to Kot Addu Power Company (KEPCO) power plant.
Oil supply to Muzaffargarh power plant has been raised from 3 thousand tons to 5 thousand tons.
Repair works of grid stations and feeders will also be carried out.
Earlier, Prime Minister directed to reduce loadshedding duration in the country.
Presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday, he said the existing level of load-shedding is unacceptable.
The PM directed bringing down load-shedding to six hours in urban and seven hours in rural areas in next few days.
He directed to shift the fuel supply through Railway to power houses to avoid leakages, pilferage and corruption.
