Summary Internal and external forces are trying to sabotage the dialogue process, a TTP negotiator said.
PESHAWAR (Web Desk) - A tribal peace jirga organized by Jamaat-e-Islami in Peshawar Thursday overwhelmingly supported the ongoing dialogue process with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for durable peace.
The jirga appreciated the efforts of both the government and Taliban’s negotiating committees.
The tribal elders demanded political, democratic, economic and educational reforms in Fata to bring the tribal people at par with the people of rest of the country.
On the occasion, TTP negotiator Professor Ibrahim said that dialogue is the only option to restore peace in the country.
He said Taliban and army are main parties in the ongoing talks and both should sit on one table to resolve the issue.
Professor Ibrahim requested the Taliban to lay down their arms and urged the government to fully implement the Islamic clauses in the constitution.
Another Taliban talks committee member Maulana Yousaf Shah remarked that those not supporting the dialogue process are traitors.
Internal and external forces are trying to sabotage the peace process, he added.
Addressing the Jirga, Maulana Samiul Haq said that tribal people have rendered countless sacrifices for country’s peace. All the tribes support dialogue process.
