Summary Reportedly, govt wants to know about Taliban's 'goodwill gesture' if their prisoners are freed.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The government and Taliban resumed contact on Thursday after four weeks of suspension. Reportedly government has put forward tough conditions for consideration of Taliban’s demand. Dunya News reported.
The conditions include restoration of pre-9/11 situation, release of Professor Ajmal, Ali Hyder Gilani and Shahbaz Taseer and holding meaningful talks.
The government says it would not only release prisoners but also pay compensation to the affected families and establish peace zone for convenient movement for talks if Taliban restore pre-9/11 law and order situation in FATA.
The sources revealed that 13 more Taliban prisoners as announced by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali can also be freed.
The government also wants to know about Taliban’s reciprocation as goodwill gesture if their prisoners are freed.
The government reportedly offered Taliban the release of Qari Shakeel’s brother if TTP releases Professor Ajmal, Ali Hyder Gilani and Shahbaz Taseer.
The government says it has consented to formation of sub-committee to investigate the allegations from both sides, adding that it will comprise on members from both parties.
According to sources, government urged Taliban to hold meaningful negotiations so that the issue can be resolved soon.
Sources say that scholars, tribal and religious leaders will also be added to negotiation committee in the decisive phase.
