PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Professor Ibrahim has confirmed that a meeting between Interior Minister and the Taliban committee has not been scheduled so far, adding that peace couldn t be restored if both sides will keep on threatening each other.
According to sources, the interior ministry wasn t aware of any schedule for the meeting. Meanwhile, the Taliban committee has also not updated Professor Ibrahim in this regard.
The interior minister had earlier told media that a meeting with Taliban committee s head Maulana Samiul Haq is scheduled for today.
Meanwhile, Professor Ibrahim said that the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has expressed reservations over the killing of their members detained in jails.
TTP Spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid said on Friday that ceasefire has not been extended because of government’s ‘cruel steps’ adding that Taliban will target government sites instead of public places from now on.
Shahid also suggested that the doors of negotiations have not been closed.
Taliban spokesman claimed that government arrested 200 Taliban members and killed over 50 after taking them out of the jails in the name of root out operation.
He said that Taliban will now attack government oriented places instead of public places in the post-ceasefire period. He warned that some other elements could target public places in the meantime.
Responding to Taliban threats, government sources said that government will not deter by threats adding that attacks will be reciprocated.
