ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday filed a petition in the Supreme Court and pleaded to grant more time to hold local bodies elections.
The ECP in its petition took the stance that minimum six months time was required to conduct delimitation process.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had ordered the provincial to make legislation for delimitation of the constituencies in five months. As per the decision, the ECP was directed to complete the process in 45 days.
The ECP has pleaded to the Supreme Court to grant six months time instead of 45 days to conduct delimitation process.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Supreme Court had ordered he ECP to hold local bodies elections till November 15.
The SC had given the delimitation powers to ECP.
