Summary Shaukat Yousafzai alleged that Abid Sher Ali stole electricity from people for private factory.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) information minister Shah Farman said on Sunday that the people would be brought to streets in case of excessive load shedding in summer, Dunya News reported.
He said that the federal government is not willing to hand over PESCO to provincial government.
Farman further said that as per NEPRA’s report, there’s no record of thousands of connects in the province. He alleged that PESCO itself is involved in hidden electricity connections, electricity theft and excessive billing. He urged Prime Minister to take notice of NEPRA’s report and control Abid Sher Ali.
Addressing press conference, Shah Farman said that 86183 cases of electricity theft were registered in Punjab, out of which only 3881 offenders were brought to justice. Sindh caught 215 offenders out of 813. Balochistan registered 8 cases and made only 3 arrests. Drawing comparison with other provinces, he said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa registered 2069 cases and caught 1099 offenders. He further said that why do those who level allegation of electricity theft worth 52 billion forget the balance payable net profits of water-sourced electricity.
Shah Farman warned that the provincial government will also take the matter to court in case of excessive load shedding and reiterated that the government itself will bring people to streets.
On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s trade minister Shaukat Yousafzai alleged that WAPDA takes away 74 billion rupees of KP government every year.
Lamenting at Abid Sher Ali, Yousafzai said that if Sher Ali has courage, he should also pay the payable amount to the provincial government.
He alleged that Abid Sher Ali snatched electricity from people just to facilitate personal factory. Yousafzai said that no one will be allowed to grab and abuse the province’s resources. He demanded Abid Sher Ali to apologise to the people of the province.
