Summary Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved appointment of Iqbal Mehmood as IGP Sindh.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government on Monday appointed Iqbal Mehmood as Inspector General Police Sindh.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved the appointment whereas a notification has also been issued in this regard.
Additional IG Iqbal Mehmood has been serving as acting IG after the retirement of Shahid Nadeem Baloch on February 20.
It is to mention here that the Supreme Court, while hearing Karachi unrest case on March 21, 2014, had directed the government to appoint IG Sindh within seven day but the court deadline ended on March 29.
Iqbal Mehmood is one of the senior most officials in the Sindh police and has been serving at a number of posts including as the Additional Inspector General of Karachi and as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at different places.
