Summary Maulana Samiul Haq says four members of Taliban shura will participate in the negotiations.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Taliban negotiation committee has proposed Laddah and Makeen areas of South Waziristan to hold peace talks whereas the government has suggested Bannu airport for the negotiation.
Meanwhile, member of Taliban committee Maulana Samiul Haq said that there would be many meetings after the talks start and there should be a ‘free zone’ for this purpose.
He said that Taliban could not move freely as raids were being carried out and this situation has forced several Taliban leaders to go underground.
Maulana Samiul Haq said that four members of Taliban shura would participate in negotiations with the government committee.
Earlier, another key leader of Taliban committee professor Ibrahim said that the issue of place to hold could be easily solved if the forces had vacated only Ladha and Makeen areas.
Professor Ibrahim said that Taliban did not demand forces withdrawal from Mehsood areas but only gave proposal.
He said that the venue to hold peace talks would be finalised within two days.
Professor Mohammad Ibrahim stated that the Taliban has provided a 300-person list of women and children of TTP members to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. He also said that most of these women and children belong to the tribal areas and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Member of the government negotiation committee Rustam Shah Mohmand had said that the list of the women and children was not provided as of yet.
On March 16, Professor Ibrahim had said the Taliban have demanded the release of all ‘non-combatants’ affiliated with the group before face-to-face talks could begin.
The same day, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had strongly denied that the security agencies have any woman or child linked to the TTP in custody. At the same time, he had offered a government probe into the claims, if proof was provided.
On February 22, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) had also denied these allegations.
On the other hand, banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Shahidullah Shahid has said when Federal Minister khawaja Asif is unaware about the exact location and number of secret detention centres run by security forces in Pakistan’s territory, how he can give exact number of detainees.
