LAHORE (Dunya News) – Information Minister Pervez Rashid said that the Taliban want to impose their ideology, adding that the media should play an effective role in stopping terrorist activities across the country.
Addressing the press conference in Lahore, Pervez Rashid has said the government believes in the freedom of expression and it has taken several concrete initiatives for this purpose.
The Minister said any restriction on media is harmful for the society and government.
He said the government will solve all issues of journalist’s community in the country. He said that Punjab Government has also taken many steps to facilitate media persons.
Pervez Rashid said the media should keep in view our own culture and act with more responsibility by following its own code of ethics while showing foreign programs.
The Minister called for concerted and collective efforts to tackle the issue of terrorism as the extremist way of thinking is against democracy‚ government and media. He said the government is taking various steps to address the issue of terrorism.
Pervaiz Rashid said responsibilities of all governments has increased‚ especially to establish peace in the country.
He said the government is taking action against those who want to impose their philosophy on others.
He said government wants to ensure protection of journalists as they are playing an important role in war against terrorism.
Replying to a question‚ he said ban on You Tube will soon be lifted.
