Summary Implementation of the system of Quran and Sunnah has been mentioned in the constitution, he said.

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) - Member of Taliban talks committee Professor Ibhraim on Friday said that if the government implements Islamic system according to the constitution then the Taliban will be convinced to accept it, Dunya News reported.

Talking to Dunya News, Professor Ibrahim said that Islamic Ideology Council had proposed amendments in the constitution according to Quran and Sunnah but no changes were made.

He said religous leaders and veteran politicians were involved in the formation of the constitution.

On the other hand, the government has demanded a ceasefire as a condition to resume the peace talks.

The Taliban s demands include the nationwide imposition of sharia law, an end to US drone strikes and the withdrawal of the army from northwestern tribal regions — conditions unlikely to be met.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced the start of talks on Jan. 29 to "give peace another chance" following a seven-year Taliban insurgency that has claimed nearly 7,000 lives.
