PTI plea: SC seeks reply from AG over voters' thumb verification

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) –Supreme Court has directed the Attorney General to submit a written reply regarding voters’ thumb verification in four constituencies, Dunya News reported.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani heard a petition filed by PTI Chairman Imran Khan rpertaining to rigging in the four constituencies in May 11 general elections.

During case proceedings, election tribunal’s report over Lahore’s NA-125 and Multan’s NA-154 constituency was presented before the court.

The report stated that no witnesses or evidence was presented before the tribunal to prove the rigging claims, thus, thumb verification process remained pending.

Meanwhile, the apex court directed the Election Commission to submit a report regarding number of federal and provincial employees in the electoral staff.

The case hearing has been adjourned till first week of March.
