NOWSHERA: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chairman has also lashed out at Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali saying he’s incompetent. Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s political gaining will suffer if KP government reduced the electricity prices, he said.
Addressing a rally, Imran Khan alleged that the PESCO management itself is involved in electricity theft. PTI chief further said that they haven’t received federal government’s response on the matter of handling over the institution to the provincial government.
PTI chief also said that he’s aiming to ‘fix’ the system and that those who are involved in corrupting it, cannot repair it. If people don’t vote with conscience, their children will have a dark future, if the fight of system is not fought, then such dramas are bound to happen, he added. Imran Khan also urged the participants of the gathering to decide if they want the ‘old Pakistan’ or the Pakistan where ‘system of justice’ prevails.
Last week, Federal Minister for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali had held Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government responsible for line losses and pending electricity bills.
Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, Abi Sher Ali had accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ministers of backing power thieves.
“It is easy to stage sit-ins and difficult to show performance” he said.
He further said that MPAs including Fazal Elahi, Shah Farman, Ahmad Zari and others have failed to ensure that the people in their constituencies pay their dues to PESCO.
“Around 90% of the users in their constituencies are defaulters,” he had claimed.
He further claimed that PESCO employees were tortured when they visited the areas to make recoveries.
We will cut those hands now if anyone manhandled our staff again, he warned.
Sher Ali also said that certain areas bordering Peshawar have become no-go locations for PESCO employees who cannot carry on with their work because of security threats.
PTI and PMLN’s hurling of stiff statements at each other has been ongoing since the general elections campaigning and continues to this day.
KP government had demanded the federal government to hand over the PESCO and related authorities to the provincial government in order to curb line losses and other pertaining issues.
