Hyderabad: (Dunya News) - Provincial information minister Sharjeel Memon has said that our men are being martyred by Taliban and the government appears to be double-minded about the approach of holding peace-negotiations with Taliban.
The provincial minister went on to say that the federal government should be as brave as the Sindh government and openly pronounce the names of those who take responsibility of the attacks on our men. He alleged that the government is rather careful in choosing words to even condemn the attacks in a bid to not to offend Taliban. The government appears to be double minded in its stance about dealing with Taliban, he said.
Information minister said that Karachi operation has resulted in relocation of criminals and that every effort is being made against them.
The context of the discussion was the recent increase in violent incidents by Taliban including Karachi blasts that led to martyrdom of SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam along with three members of the squad. Tehrik e Taliban Mohmand Agency had claimed the responsibility of the attack.
Pakistan’s political forces had proposed to give dialogue and negotiations with Taliban a preference during their meeting on the platform of All Parties Conference. The government had claimed to have had developments on this policy but all discussions came to a halt when Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud became a target of drone attacks. Taliban had rejected the possibility of continuing peace talks and had vowed to avenge the killing of their chief. Federal government insists that the negotiations will still be the first option.
