Summary Ishtiaq Ahmad says LB polls in Sindh and Punjab will be held on 18th and 30th January respectively.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Caretaker Chief Election Commissioner Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk has ordered the provinces to make preparations for local bodies elections as there will be no change in schedule.
Briefing the media here on Monday, Secretary Election Commission Ishtiaq Ahmed said that local bodies elections in Sindh will be held on January 18 and in Punjab on January 30. He said that there will be no change in the dates announced for the local bodies elections.
Ishtiaq Ahmad said that the Election Commission of Pakistan has already written a letter to Sindh, Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa provinces.
After issuance of schedule‚ provinces will be responsible for any delay in holding elections, he added.
Secretary Election Commission said that schedule for LB polls in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and Cantonments would be issued in the first week of January while local bodies elections schedule for Sindh and Punjab would be issued on December 7.
He said that there was ambiguity in the rules of local bodies elections in Sindh.
Secretary Election Commission further told that Sindh province has been directed to send a new draft of the election rules within two days.
He said that 30 million ballot papers would be printed in Sindh and 570,000 pads of magnetic ink would be used during the polling.
Ishtiaq Ahmad told that eight new political parties had been registered.
