Summary Sharjeel Memon says the LB elections in Sindh should be held in March.
KARACHI (Dunya News) Sindh government has sought more time to hold local bodies polls in the province.
Talking to the media, Sindh Local Bodies Minister Sharjeel Memon has said that the provincial government required more time for transparent local bodies elections.
“It’s not possible for Sindh to hold elections in January, we therefore require more time. The elections should be held in March 2014, instead of January, the granting of more time is necessary for free and fair elections,” said Memon while addressing a press conference here.
He suggested that the LB elections in Sindh should be held in March and it would be better if LB elections in the entire country were held on the same date.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has approved a schedule of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) which announced the holding of polls in Sindh on January 18, 2014, in Punjab on Jan 30 and the month of February for KPK and cantonment boards.
