Summary Prime Minister has directed the authorities to bring the medicine prices back to the previous level.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - On the directions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, notification regarding increase in prices of medicines has been withdrawn.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday took strict notice of increase in the prices of medicines and directed the authorities concerned to bring the medicine prices back to the previous level.
Earlier, the federal ministry of health issued a notification increasing prices of around 11,000 medicines of varied nature by 2 to 15 percent with immediate effect. However, the prices of life-saving drugs were not increased.
A senior officer of Ministry of Health Services said that due to the price issue some medicines were not available in the market and people were facing serious problems.
In a statement today‚ the PM stated that increase in the prices of medicines is not acceptable and it should be withdrawn immediately.
