Summary Newly COAS appoints Ishfaq Nadeem as new Chief of CGS on first day of career, as army chief.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Lieutenant General Ishfaq Nadeedm Ahmad has been appointed as new Chief of General Staff (CGS) of Pakistan Army.
ISPR said that before his promotion to the rank of Lt Gen, he was Director General Military Operations (DG MO) for over two years.

Ishfaq Nadeedm has commanded a strike infantry division and led successful military operation in Swat. He has also been chief of staff of a strike corps.

Before, Ishtiaq Nadeem, Lt General Rashad Mahmood was CGS who has been promoted to the office of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC).

Lt. Gen. Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad had taken part in Swat Operation and played active role in clearing the area from clutches of the terrorists. He had also served as Chief of Staff of a strike Corps.
