LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab government has imposed a ban on pillion riding in Lahore on Muharram 9 and 10.
According to the directives, women, children and elderly will be exempted from the ban. Police will be responsible for arresting violators, who could be kept in custody for 72 hours.
As per the security plan for the holy month announced earlier, 15,700 policemen will perform security duty at more than 600 processions and 5,369 majalis in the city.
Around 400 policemen will also perform security duty in plainclothes at processions and majalis at sensitive locations.
Police would patrol within a 100-metres radius of majalis and processions, while parking lots will be set up 100 metres away from processions and majalis.
