ISLAMABAD (Online) - Kashmiri leadership be made part of Pakistan-India talks for peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.
Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said this during weekly press briefing held here at Foreign Office on Wednesday.
He held Pakistan is gravely concerned over Indian forces atrocities against people of Kashmir in occupied Kashmir.
Pakistan wants all the outstanding issues including Kashmir dispute are sorted out through dialogue process with India, he added.
“Pakistan has always extended support to Kashmiris with reference to Kashmir issue, and we want Kashmir conundrum is resolved in a peaceful manner.”
Meetings of Sartaj Aziz, Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs with Kashmiri leaders is a routine matter.
He is currently touring India.
He has met Indian minister for external affairs and Line of Control (LoC) and defence related matters came under discussion during their meeting. Ceasefire accord-2003 should be honored, he stressed.
FO Spokesperson said DG Military operations of both the countries have also contacted each other and both are agreed on normalizing the situation on LoC.
He stated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will soon visit Kabul adding dates have not been worked out in this regard so far.
Bilateral relations and Afghan reconciliation process will feature in PM Nawaz Sharif meetings with Afghan leadership during his visit to Afghanistan.
Pakistan is playing a positive role in Afghanistan and is extending every possible support to Afghan process as per will of Afghan people, he underlined.
To a question he said no contact has been made with Afghanistan with reference to Mullah Fazlullah.
Nothing more is known to him than this in this respect, he added.
However Pakistan has asked Afghanistan not to allow its soil to be used against Pakistan.
“We hope Afghanistan will not allow anyone to use its territory against Pakistan”, he underscored.
Regarding killing of Nasir ud Din Haqqani he said interior ministry can offer better comments on this incident.
He reiterated drone strikes are against the sovereignty of Pakistan. Pakistan had summoned US ambassador following last drone attack and protested against the strikes.
Pakistan has also apprised permanent members of UN Security Council of its stance on drone campaign through a briefing, he stated.
Responding to a question he said Pakistan consulate in Saudi Arabia is playing a vital role with reference to Pakistani nationals therein.
As many as 800000 Pakistani who were living in Saudi Arabia illegally have been regularized so far, he said.
FO spokesperson further said PM Nawaz Sharif will go to Sri Lanka to attend Commonwealth conference. Pakistan-Sri Lanka ties are highly cordial and friendly. PM visit will bring more improvement in the relations, he hoped.
About Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project he said US sanctions don’t apply to this project.
