Summary Says govt paying only lip service to peace and is following US directions.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan said that the country was passing through testing times while the government was just performing a lip service to the cause of peace

“Govt has bowed before the US,” he said.

Responding to a question regarding the killing of Hakimullah Mehsud, Munawar said Hakimullah was a martyr.

The JI chief said his party supports talks with Taliban.

He demanded that Pakistan Army should take the nation into confidence over the operations it had launched since the creation of Pakistan.

The JI chief said he has written to the PM in response to the letter reharding Protection of Pakistan Ordinance.

However, he said that PM’s letter to the political leaders after the issuance of the Ordinance was beyond his understanding.

Munawar Hassan said Imran Khan should have taken political parties into confidence over the issue of suspension of NATO supply.

He said he supported the stance of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa CM who said NATO supplies should be stopped.

“The United States has never been our friend as it always supported India and ignored Pakistan,” he said.

He urged the government to hold talks with Taliban even if the US attacks the negotiation table.
