Local polls in Balochistan to be held on general ward level: EC

Summary Says Election Commission will ensure fairness and transparency in the exercise.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) Election Commission of Pakistan has said that local bodies election in Balochsitan would be held on the level of general ward, adding that direct polling would be on 7,078 general wards seats. 

According to the ECP, one union council would comprise at least seven and maximum 15 wards.

In rural areas, Union Councils in rural areas and Municipal Committees would be based on wards.

It is worthy of note that Qila Abudllah and Kaich would be given the status of municipal corporation while Quetta would be given the status of metropolitan corporation.

On Thursday, the Election Commission has issued schedule for local government elections in Balochistan.
At a news briefing in Islamabad this evening (Thursday)‚ Secretary Election Commission Ishtiak Ahmad Khan said these elections will be held on the 7th of December.

Schedule for local government elections in Punjab and Sindh will be announced on completion of delimitations‚ and in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and Islamabad on finalization of prerequisites.
