Summary Kamran Murtaza wins by securing 1032 votes against Amanullah who bagged 872 votes.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The president of Supreme Court Bar Association was to be elected from Balochistan province this time from where three candidates, Kamran, Amanullah Kanrani and Rab Nawaz were in the field.
Kamran Murtaza secured 436 votes from Lahore, 61 from Multan 37 from Bahawalpur, 219 from Islamabad, 115 from Karachi, 12 from Hyderabad, 4 from Sukkur, 64 from Peshawar and 56 from Quetta.
Rana Naeem Sarwar (Punjab), Sadiq Hadaytullah (Sindh), Syed Sardar Hussain 9KP) and Abdullah Kakar (Balochistan) have been elected as vice presidents of SCBA.
Talking to media after the unofficial announcement of results, Asma Jahangir thanked the lawyers’ community for supporting Kamran Murtaza.
“Victory and defeat are part of the election process and all lawyers are united in solving the problems faced by the lawyers’ fraternity.
Kamran Murtaza said he would work for the welfare of lawyers and for the supremacy of law with new zeal.
It must be remembered that Hamid Khan Group suffered fourth consecutive defeat in the Supreme Court Bar Association.
Hamid Group won the SCBA elections last time in 2009.
