Summary Opposition once again gives mandate to the government for holding talks with Taliban.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Thursday gave detailed briefing to opposition parties over negotiations process with Taliban here at the Parliament.
Nisar informed the Opposition parliamentarians that government had devised a strategy to hold talks if all opposition parties assured the government their full support.
“Dialogue process derailed due to terror activities, 37 Taliban groups working in the country while informal calculation of insurgent groups is being told 57”, the minister said.
Interior Minister added that all stakeholders have been taken into confidence and agenda regarding dialogues with Taliban would be prepared later.
Opposition leader Syed Khurshid Shah, Chaudhry Shujat Hussain, Dr Farooq Sattar, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, Tariq Ullah Khan, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, Muhammad Ijaz-ul-Haq and Pervez Rashid were present on the occasion.
Talking to journalists after Interior Minister’s briefing, Khurshid Shah said that Opposition once again mandated the government for holding talks with Taliban, adding the opposition would soon meet the government again in this regard.
“Initial dialogue process has started,” he quoted Nisar as saying.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker, Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that PTI from the very first day asserting to step forward dialogue process.
Parliamentary leader of MQM, Dr Farooq Sattar said that MQM is confident that the government’s efforts regarding talks with Taliban would bring fruit.
Ijaz-ul-Haq said that army also support dialogue with Taliban, adding he reminded that government has invited all those parties today (Thursday) who had not invited prior in All Parties Conference (APC).
