Corruption references: Court issues notices to Zardari, NAB

Summary Ex-president Asif Ali Zardari enjoys no more immunity after leaving his office.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) Accountability Court of Islamabad has reissued notices to former president Asif Ali Zardari and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) regarding corruption references. 

Accountability Court judge Muhammad Bashir conducted hearing of references against Asif Ali Zardari. Farooq H Naik submitted his power of attorney on the part of the ex-president, with the stance that his client could not appear in the court due to foreign country tours.

He also sought more time for preparation of the case.

The court warned that if Asif Zardari doesn’t appear in the court on next hearing, argumentation is likely to be started on next hearing.

Additional Prosecutor General Muhammad Akbar and Farooq H Naek agreed to put off next hearing till November 26.
