Summary Minister for Water and Power says electricity situation is improving in the country.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif says the government will ensure protection of Pakistan s water rights.
Talking to newsmen in Islamabad on Friday‚ he said water is the issue of life and death for Pakistan and implementation of Indus Water Treaty with India will be ensured.
The Minister said there are reservations on Indus Water Treaty in the country. However‚ he said the government will defend its water rights.
He said India is encroaching upon water which Indus Water Treaty gives to Pakistan.
He said that the water distribution was not just but it was tilted in Indian favor. He said we are trying to remove the mistakes committed in the past.
Khawaja Asif said water will be a very important issue in future and there is a need to adopt a joint strategy on it. He said Pakistan can be a victim of water shortage in the next ten to fifteen years.
He urged media to highlight Pakistan s stand on water in positive manner.

Shiraz Memon has warned that if India doesn t change the design of Kartely Project on Chenab River, the issue would be raised to the International Court for Justice.
