QUETTA (Dunya News) - The Awami National Party (ANP) is observing shutter down strike and staging protest demonstrations across the Balochistan province today (Thursday) against the kidnapping of senior leader Nawab Arbab Abdul Zahir Kasi.
Due to strike, markets remained shut on Jinnah Road, Zarghoon Road, Airport Road, Liaquat Bazaar, Abdul Sattar Road, Kasi Road, Khayedad Road and other areas.
Balochistan Bar Association and Balochistan Bar Council also boycotted court proceedings.
The strike was announced by the ANP General Secretary Abdul Rashid Nasir and Chairman of OrganizingCommittee Jabar Kakar at a press conference in Quetta on Wednesday.
The ANP leaders demanded that the government should launch a targeted operation in the city and warned that party would resort to agitation if Arbab Abdul Zahir was not freed.
Yesterday, some armed men intercepted Zahir Kasi’s car on Patel Road on the outskirts of Balochistan’s Quetta city and took him away in their vehicle at gunpoint.
