ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) Membership of more than 50 members of Parliament and provincial assemblies may be canceled as they have not submitted details of their assets in the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Election Commission had set September 30 as deadline for submission of details of assets owned by members of national and provincial assemblies but finding them unable to do their job, the commission extended the date for more 15 days but more than 50 members including Rehman Malik, Faisal Raza Abidi and Islamuddin Shaikh are yet to submit the details of their assets.
According to Election Commission, four senators including Rehman Malik, Mustafa Kamal and Faisal Raza Abidi and Islamuddin haven’t submitted details of their assets.
Ten members of National Assembly including Asad Umar, Amirullah Marwat, Dr Azra Afzal and Shah Jahan Baloch are yet to submit details of their assets.
Likewise, eleven members from Sindh Assembly, more than 15 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, nine from Punjab Assembly and six from Balochistan Assembly have committed violation to the law by not submitting the details of their assets.
Sources said that the commission had intended to cancel the membership of violators but could not do so for Eid Holidays.
According to rules and regulations, if the membership of aforementioned members is canceled, they would not be able to participate in the session of related assembly until and unless his or her membership is restored.
