Summary Nisar declines request by Punjab Police to suspend mobile phone service during Eid holidays.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Tuesday rejected request of Punjab Police to suspend mobile phone service during Eid-ul-Azha holidays for security reasons.

“Blasts cannot be stopped by suspending mobile phone service as the terrorists have other means also,” he said.
He said police and security agencies should perform their duties efficiently and foil the designs of the terrorists.

The Punjab Police had earlier requested the interior ministry to suspend mobile phone services from 6am to 10pm due to security apprehensions.

SP Security Lahore made this request in a letter to the interior ministry.

CCPO Lahore Chaudhry Muhammad Shafique said that mobile phone service would not be suspended because the interior ministry did not respond to the request.

He directed the police officials to take stringent security measures in order to secure mosques and other public places in Lahore.
