PESHAWAR (Dunya News) PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad has said that if Afghan SIM is used in any terror attack, the related mobile company would be bound to pay its diat (compensatory amount for murder).
He said that proper action should be taken against the companies which are providing assistance to terrorists’ network.
Two member bench of Peshawar High Court conducted hearing of the case regarding illegal SIMs. Director General PTA and representatives of different franchise association were also present in the court.
While expressing his resentment over negligence of the companies, Chief Justice said that why the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is not taking action against illegal SIMs.
He said that the country is sinking like a ship and the nation is wandering in search of dollars.
PTA Director General Abdulsamad said that the institute is introducing a fingerprint system in consultation with NADRA.
Upon this, Chief Justice said that NADRA itself has registered a large number of Afghan people.
He said that one million Afghan SIMs are active in the country, adding that none of these SIMs can work without boosters and towers.
He made it clear that if an Afghan SIM is used in any bomb blast, the related company would have to pay diat.
hief Justice ordered that provincial government in consultation with the PTA and federal government should launch an operation against illegally used Afghan mobile SIMs.
It is worthy of note that the court also ordered the DG PTA not to leave Peshawar until and unless action against illegal SIMs.
