Summary US ambassador extends condolences to families of Peshawar church bombing victims.

ISLAMABAD (Online) - Churches of Pakistan has appealed to the Christian community protesters to remain peaceful during staging protests against Peshawar Church blasts.

In a statement, it appealed the protesters not to be violent and refrain from burning and breaking things.

It also said that special prayers would be offered in all churches of the country for the souls of the people who died on Sunday in Peshawar blasts.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the American people, US Ambassador Richard Olson has extended heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims of Sunday’s heinous attack on a house of worship in Peshawar.

The Ambassador wishes those who were injured a full and speedy recovery.

“We remain concerned about extremist violence against whomever it may be directed, including attacks like this that claimed the lives of scores of innocent victims. Violence against innocent civilians is an assault on the values of the people of Pakistan and a threat to a prosperous future for all citizens”, he said in a statement issued on Monday.

More than 80 people were killed and 150 were injured in the twin suicide bombing that took place outside the All Saints church after Sunday mass came to an end. The bombing is believed to be the country’s deadliest attack on Christians.

Christians protested in several towns and cities around Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Faisalabad, against the church bombings and demanded the federal and provincial governments to provide protection to the minorities in the country.
