Summary PM Nawaz and the opposition leader could not reach consensus over NAB chief's appointment.

(Web Desk) - Another meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and leader of the opposition Syed Khurshid Shah took place in Islamabad today (Saturday) to hold consultations on appointment of new Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB). 

Talking to media, Khurshid Shah said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has proposed the name of Justice (retired) Ejaz Chaudhry for the post of NAB chairman.

He said that conslutations with the Prime Minister would continue over the matter. 

Deliberations are required to bring a consensus and uncontroversial figure to the important slot of Chairman NAB, he added. 

Earlier on Friday, the opposition leader proposed to the government the name of Justice (retireD) Mian Muhammad Ajmal for the post of chairman of the National Accountability Bureau.

The government had earlier proposed the names of retired Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery and former federal secretary Khwaja Zaheer Ahmed and the opposition the name of retired Justice Bhagwandas and retired Justice Sardar Raza.

The last NAB chief, Admiral retired Fasih Bokhari, was removed by the Supreme Court on May 28, after declaring his appointment illegal.
