Petition for cut in electricity price by Rs 0.31/unit

Summary According to NEPRA, the hearing of the petition filed by CPPA would be made tomorrow.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) Central Power Purchasing Agency has filed a writ petition to the NEPRA for cut in power price by Rs 0.31 per unit. The petition would be heard today. 

According to NEPRA officials, the cut in power price has been demanded from all distributing companies except KESC.

According to the petition of the CPPA, the cost management of electricity generated out of carbon was counted Rs 3.61 per unit, high speed diesel by Rs 21.15, furnace oil by Rs 15.48, while cost of electricity generated out of gas was only Rs 4.94, nuclear electricity Rs 1.32 while the price of electricity imported from Iran was Rs 10.17 per unit.

The petitioner further added that in August, hydro-power makes about 40 percent of total power production due to which the cost management went down as a whole.

According to NEPRA, the hearing of aforesaid petition would be made tomorrow.
