KARACHI (Dunya News) – The traders of the city on Friday demanded of the government to stop extortion kidnappings for ransom in 72 hours.
The traders threatened to lay siege to the Sindh Assembly if the government fails to end the criminal activities in the city.
Leaders of the traders have started contact campaign for the protest movement.
According to the traders, the provincial government and the law enforcement agencies failed to protect the properties and lives of the traders and the citizens and were not serious in addressing the issue. They said that the federal government should play its role to restore law and order in Karachi.
The traders said that they were constantly being harassed to pay the extortion money. They said that the business community was insecure in the city due to insufficient arrangements of security by the government while continuation of business activities was difficult in this situation.
The traders announced to start protest movement from Karachi Press Club on August 27.
