Summary Minister says decisive action will be taken after collective National Security Policy.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali has said all political forces and military leadership will have to come up with united stance against the militants because it was the question of life and death for the nation.

Addressing a press conference here, the Interior Minister said that political parties and media should rise above petty political gains and support the government in its efforts to counter the menace of terrorism.

He said government was working on National Security Policy on war-footing basis and it would be presented soon after consultations with army and parliamentarians.

Draft of the National Security Policy will be issued in two weeks, he said, adding formulation of security policy was not a child’s sport.

Regarding the All Parties Conference on terrorism, Nisar said all parties had agreed to participate in the proposed conference.

He said a Counter Terrorism Deployment Force, comprising of 500 serving and retired army officers, would be established.

Giving an outline of the security policy, he said there would be two parts of the policy: one covering internal security and the other dealing with international strategy.

A Joint Intelligence Secretariat in Centre would be established and it would be replicated in the provinces, he said.

Nisar said police would have to play a major role against terrorism and federal government would provide all necessary assistance and equipment to the provincial governments.

He informed that Pak army had offered to provide 5000 sub-machine guns to Balochistan police and would also give them training.

He said close coordination between ISI, IB and MI would be ensured to make intelligence sharing more effective.

Army chief and DG ISI will brief the leadership and then political leadership will sit together and give final shape to the final policy, he said.

“Decision about military action against militants or dialogue with them will be taken with national consensus and meaningful action will be taken with complete support of the nation,” he said.

He lamented that no serious efforts were made in the last 13 years to counter the threats Pakistan was facing.

“We are imposing war on anyone we are defending our land,” he said.

He also urged those who are shedding blood in Pakistan to stop the heinous practice, adding Islam was the religion of peace not conflict.

“There complete harmony between army and incumbent government,” Nisar said.

He urged media persons and owners to support and guide the government because it is the question of survival of the country.

He also called upon the politicians to rise above politics and avoid point-scoring on issue of national security.
