ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Security has been put on high alert after a warning by the interior ministry that Taliban can execute a major terrorist activity in the capital.
According to reports, a search operation has been underway for the last two days in the Margala Hills in which commandoes of Rangers, Pakistan Navy and PAF are taking part.
Terrorists can use the jungles of Margala Hills as a hiding place before or after launching the attacks.
Paramilitary troops have been deployed in the Red Zone, and 2,000 policemen have been guarding the important buildings and roads.
Security of Adyala Jail has been handed over to Rangers and seven check posts have been set on the road leading to Adyala.
It has been learnt that army and Rangers have been deployed to secure the Benazir International Airport for the last one week.
Police and secret agencies are conducting raids in Kachi Abadies, hotels and hostels in the twin cities.
Heads of all police stations were also directed to maintain high vigilance in their respective areas. Houses, workshops, markets, under construction buildings, and residential areas were also searched.
Earlier, according to a foreign news agency, the secret agencies of Pakistan had warned that Taliban were planning major attacks on airports, foreign embassies and army installations in the capital.
