KARACHI, August 05(Online): Three more dead bodies that were swept away due to torrential rain were recovered from Manzor Colony and Liyari in the wee hours on Monday.

 

According to Police, A 12 year old boy dead body was recovered from Mirah drain near bridge at Liyari while two more unidentified dead bodies were recovered from Qayyumabad near bridge.

 

Police took the three bodies into custody and shifted them to hospital. It is significant to mention here that the death toll has reached 42 due to heavy down pour in two days.

 

Vehicle with 3 passengers still missing after falling into Karachi nullah. Meanwhile, a vehicle that fell into a nullah in Buffer Zone on Sunday could not be recovered 24 hours after the incident.

 

According to locals, they had seen a couple and a minor traveling in the vehicle which fell into the nullah in BR society. They said they could not rescue the couple the child, who were screaming for help.

 

Relatives of the victims also reached the scene where a search was being carried out to recover the vehicle.

 

Pakistan Army‚ Navy and local administration have accelerated their emergency relief operation in rain-affected areas acroos the country.

 

ISPR reported that army troops have rescued over three hundred trapped persons in the rain-hit areas of Karachi and provided urgent rations support to them.

 

On the other hand, Punjab government has dispatched 94 trucks carrying essential commodities to the flood affected areas of Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.

 

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa‚ the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has taken measures to control the situation and compensate the affected people. It has dispatched consignments of relief goods containing tents‚ blankets and big cans of clean drinking water to the flood-hit areas of Chitral‚ Tank and Dera Ismail Khan.

 

In Balochistan‚ the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has stepped up relief activities in flood hit areas of the province and dispatched several consignments of relief goods for flood victims in Jhal Mgsi‚ Bolan and Jaffarabad districts.

 

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch has said the government will make all out efforts for well being of rain victims in the province.
