KARACHi (Dunya News) - President Asif Ali Zardari has convened a high-level meeting at the Bilalwal House today (Saturday) to discuss law and order situation in Karachi.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, provincial Inspector General (IG) and other officials of law enforcement agencies will attend the meeting.
During meeting, the president will be briefed over incidents of target killings and measures to tackle shooting incidents in the metropolis.
Strategy to ensure peace in Lyari area will also be discussed in the meeting.
For the past few weeks, the Rangers and police have been actively conducting operations in different parts of Lyari to arrest the gang war culprits.
Lyari residents also protest against deteriorating law and order situation in the area on Thursday and Friday.
It is pertinent to mention here that residents are facing extreme difficulties due to ongoing shooting incidents in Agra Taj Colony, Bihar Colony, Jumma Baloch Road, Kalri and other adjoining areas of Lyari.
As per details, firing and violence related incidents could not be stopped in Karachi as 11 more persons were killed in the city during last 24 hours.
According to details, the number of killings in Karachi jumped to more than 2,300 in 2012 from 1,700 the previous year. More than 1,400 murders have already been recorded since the start of this year.
